Not for the sake of a challenge with the key holder, but because I believe I am responsible and trustworthy enough to have a particular level of access to what is on the other side of the lock. I've decided that the lock doesn't apply to me, but someone else has decided that it does. The decision-making has been left to someone else, and I've been left to break the lock, instead of choose.

The lock denies everyone access, and denies people the right to decide for themselves whether or not they even want- or can handle- access.
The key holder decides there is a "right" kind of person who can have a key, and a "wrong" kind of person to whom it should never be given. As you stated, there is more room for the welcomed growth of curiosity, discovery and community in a system with fewer locks. By eliminating some of the locks and granting more freedom of access, we are asking a higher level of trust and responsibility from everyone, not just a select few.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05204148790949309292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7572011514248046271.post-78548124624004977062011-04-23T13:36:05.436-04:002011-04-23T13:36:05.436-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05204148790949309292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7572011514248046271.post-13539867098180260952011-04-19T14:34:06.603-04:002011-04-19T14:34:06.603-04:00We heard Chris Hedges speak this week (Death of th...We heard Chris Hedges speak this week (Death of the Liberal Class). He said that the anonymity of the corporation renders the individual impotent. I believe you will never become you-know-what because you know how to name IT.
